Over the past 25 years at Compunnel, we always tried to re-invent ourselves to help enterprises on achieving their talent acquisition goals. As majority of our business belongs in Contingent Staffing, it was obvious for us to re-think how business is done in this space.
Over 2 years of research and several pivots, we formulated the best of solution our industry has to see to achieve Total Talent Management. Our journey began with enabling enterprises to launch self and direct sourcing with zero disruption to their existing program to bring cost and program efficiences.
In 2006, as a jobseeker Praneeth found for contract opportunity at Accenture through an employee referral but had route through an Agency and pay up the markup just to get on-boarded. Using an Agency as a passthrough was a bit frustrating which lead to the journey of building out models which reduces inefficiency in the staffing augmentation workflow. Failing with experiments of Fee for Service model and later found an opportunity bigger, Praneeth won a contract with State of Texas -DIR which is a $600M spend to launch a tailored VMS. Later built GiGumes, a resume search engine which was beating out linkedin on the boolean search on the SEO, this was in the PageRank era before the Panda, Penguin and latest Humming bird upgrades of Google Search. Eventually launched Jobhuk.com an independent recruitment marketplace at SXSW and won best bootstrapped company award, which was results of pivoting away from open consumer based talent referrals. With several product market fit validations under jobhuk, Praneeth discovered the value of Employee referrals and ability to apply it to contingent workforce program, which was going to solve the frustration he started in 2006. Practicing HRTech near to a decade, Praneeth championed the talent attraction and engagement models which he saw was totally missed out in every contingent program. Through acquisition of Jobhuk into Compunnel, Praneeth got an opportunity to understand 80 MSP & Self Managed contingent programs with large enterprises.
Working through the contingent programs and hearing from the enterprise program and procurement managers, it was obvious and validated that contingent programs are missing out on a huge opportunity to optimize. The need for total talent management can only be achieved with the acquisition techniques borrowed from the modern day and apply to temp labor. This is where the terminology of direct and self sourcing took shape internally and after several experiments and iteration a successful pilot lead to the need to go to market as a independent product.
